I am using Quicken version 5.5.6. Quicken is now pretty good at posting this stuff on their community website so that I don't waste time chasing transient problems anymore (a recent Chase 1-day outage being a good example). Most typically they resolve themselves, or involve a simple account reset. Problems are very infrequent, almost always temporary, and often caused by sending institutions. Perhaps a weekly entry would keep track of what is going on and easy to recall. I believe Q is a data base anyway. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be.I only have one credit card and one checking account. If I really enjoyed entering data into spreadsheets I might be willing to still do it, but I don't. I definitely value my free time at more than $2/hour. I'd guess it would take me 20-40 extra hours per year to manage using a spreadsheet. So every month, I have to go though and de-dupe entries and compare Quicken to my bank statement to see if checks Quicken says didn't clear actually cleared. Other times, even though checks cleared the bank, Quicken still has them listed as outstanding. Sometimes, Quicken doesn't reconcile that with what I already manually entered (even though the check number and amount are the same) and it posts it again. The download is just something I use instead of balancing my checkbook.What sometimes happens is I will manually enter a check and then months later, it's deposited. There are actually some from over a year ago that are still outstanding). But I write a lot of checks to my daughters school and for various clubs and activities.I suppose my point is I have to manually enter things anyway and do this de-duping as well. I also noticed that it usually only does this with physical checks I write, not when I do online bill pay though my bank. I suppose it could be my bank. It only takes a few minutes each night to manually enter transactions and log in to my bank and check off things that cleared. But it's not like manually entering things takes that long. It's probably still a little quicker to download and make corrections than manually entering things. But the downloads seem to create issues.
